The word "Arthropoda" came from the Greek Arthron, meaning a joint and Pous for foot. Animals of the Arthropoda phylum have bodies with more than two cell layers, tissues and organs. In most cases, they have a straight gut with an anus, 3 to 400+ pairs of jointed legs, and an external skeleton. The reproduction of the members of the Arthropoda phylum is normally secual and gonochoristic, but it can also be parthenogenetic. Finally, animals of this phylum feed on everything and live pretty much everywhere.
